Introducing Asynq MCP Server: Your Team's External Brain for Claude

We are thrilled to announce the native Asynq MCP Server, allowing you to connect your Asynq workspace directly to Claude Desktop and other MCP-compatible clients.

This integration bridges the gap between your ephemeral AI chat sessions and your team's persistent "Group Memory."

What is MCP?

The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is a new standard that allows AI models to connect safely to external data and tools. Instead of pasting context manually into every chat, you can give Claude focused access to your Asynq decisions, enabling it to read, search, and even participate in your decision-making process.

What Can You Do?

Once connected, Claude gains a set of powerful tools to interact with Asynq:

1. Consult "Hard Memory" (Past Decisions)

Ask Claude things like:

"Why did we choose Postgres over MongoDB last month?" "What was the final verdict on the new pricing tier?"

Claude will search your finalized decisions, read the selected options, and summarize the rationale, saving you from digging through old threads.

2. Manage "Soft Memory" (Drafts & Discussions)

You can use Claude to help you think through active decisions:

"What active drafts are we currently debating?" "Draft a new decision for 'Choosing a CSS Framework' with options for Tailwind and Vanilla CSS."

Claude can create the draft in your Asynq workspace, populate the context, and even suggest pros and cons for each variant based on your chat discussion.

3. Log Decisions from Chat

If you've had a long brainstorming session with Claude and reached a conclusion, don't let it vanish.

"Great, let's go with Option B. Please finalize the decision in Asynq and set a revisit date for 3 months from now."

Benefits for Teams

For teams, this integration means less context switching. You don't have to break your flow to check what was decided. Your AI assistant becomes a knowledgeable member of the team that:

  • Knows your architectural standards (because they are finalized decisions).
  • Can spot duplicates ("We already discussed this in decision #42").
  • Helps enforce the asynchronous workflow by nudging you to document outcomes.

Benefits for Individuals & Founders

You don't need a team to benefit from Asynq. For solopreneurs and founders, Asynq acts as your External Brain.

  • Log Architectures: When you decide on a tech stack with Claude, save it as a finalized decision.
  • Unblock Yourself: Months later, when you question your own code, ask Claude to retrieve the decision. It will explain why you built it that way.
  • Stay Focused: Offload cognitive load. Once a decision is logged in Asynq, you can stop holding it in your head.

How to Connect

  1. Sign in with password-less auth at https://asynq.org.
  2. Go to your Account Settings in Asynq.
  3. Generate a Personal Access Token (PAT).
  4. Look for the "Connect to Client" button.
  5. Click "Download Extension" to get the pre-configured .mcpb file.
  6. Double-click to install it in Claude Desktop.
  7. Provide Claude with your PAT when prompted.

That's it! Your AI is now connected to your decision log.
